What is an intervention?

An intervention is a orchestrated therapeutic process by a support systems – usually family and friends – to encourage an individual to seek professional help with an addiction, mental health issue, or some kind of traumatic event or crisis. Typically, the goal of an intervention is to support an individual into a structured residential program. Based on over thirty-years of combined experience, Cynthia and Brian are able to provide recommendations and referrals for treatment centers and providers throughout the State of Florida as well as nationally and internationally as appropriate.


 

What’s included in an intervention package?

  1. Education- This involves intensive educational sessions on the disease of addiction, an exploration of systemic family dynamics, educational on enabling v. support, and boundary setting. This preparatory phase is typically completed over a 3-5 day period and can be done in office, in-home, or virtually. We also have the ability to assist in coaching families through the processes of both Baker Acts or Marchman Acts as needed.

  2. Intervention- Interventions typically take place in a home or neutral location. All members of the support system who have been through the preparation phase are present, along with the supporting therapist.
